Dear Friends, after 15 years, the Kelly Golat Memorial Run has made the decision to stop hosting our 5K and charity event. The decision was not an easy one for the Golat family, but one they feel is necessary. The Golat Family has been blessed to have so many friends, both new and old, participate in the race each year and continue to show support for melanoma research in the name of Kelly.
Debbie, Vic, Kristen, Kimberly, Austin, and Brent and their families wish to extend their thanks to everyone who has been a runner, walker, attendee, or contributor to the event. Special thanks Dr. Wen Jen Hwu and the physicians and nurses that have traveled with her to provide free melanoma screenings to all of our participants. Countless people have shared with us how these screenings have raised a tremendous amount of awareness for themselves and in the community. Thanks, also, to Mr. Jeff Lyons, Principal of Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School, for his continued support and allowing us to host on Notre Dame’s campus. Through rain or shine, Mr. Lyons always welcomed us as members of the Notre Dame family. Finally, thank you to the many individuals who have contributed to the race through participation or organization. It would not have lasted 15 years without each of them. For this, the Golat family is truly thankful and wants everyone to know as much.
The Golat family will continue to personally sponsor a scholarship in Kelly’s name for a graduating senior from Notre Dame High School. In addition, donations will continue to be accepted through June 2018. One hundred percent of all donations received by the family will be given to the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR). If you would like to coordinate a donation with the Golat Family for the AACR, please contact us the through the Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/kellygolatmemorialrun/. We will be closing the webpage at the end of June and Facebook page at the end of September.
Again, we sincerely appreciate all that you have done for the event since its inception in 2003. It has been wonderful. Thank you for all your support.
